OFFICERS
As of June ,2006
Chair- Dominick DePinto
A resident of Tewksbury for the past 10 years, Dominick
is a lifelong Democrat. His political activism began in
1972 when he worked with the George McGovern
presidential campaign. An engineer by education and
trade, Dominick is one of two founding partners of the
engineering firm of Ambrosino, DePinto & Schmieder,
Consulting Engineers, in New York City. Social and
environmental concerns are fundamental in projects
completed for the firm. He has been responsible for
incorporating sustainable design features in projects
ranging from museums, laboratories, universities,
schools, and commercial buildings. He was instrumental
in developing the historic Montclair Inn into 22 units
of congregate housing for well seniors. His experience
with many Democratic organizations in New Jersey through
the years brings an array of skills to benefit the
Tewksbury Democrats and the Township of Tewksbury and
currently serves on the Hunterdon County Democratic
Committee representing District 3. He is married to Rev.
Craig Hirshberg, a member of the TDC Executive
Committee, and they have three children.
Vice Chair- Liza Darmstadt
Liza first came to Tewksbury in 1960; her parents opened
the Kitchen Caboodle in the early 1970s in a garage they
restored in Mountainville. She has been active in
Democratic campaigns since high school, and she and her
husband Robert contributed to and worked for the Carter
campaign. She holds a B.A. in Liberal Arts from the New
School, and an M.A. in Cultural Anthropology from
Rutgers – New Brunswick. She and her husband Robert
moved back to Tewksbury full-time in 1985, and both of
their sons went through the local school system from
Kindergarten through Grade 12. She worked on Tewksbury
PTA projects such as homework time per grade and
computer use and purchase policies, and volunteered with
Cub Scouts and various school activities. After writing
instructions for computer users for ten years, she
changed careers and started to work as a teacher. She
now works in Plainfield, NJ, teaching English to English
Language Learners in K through Grade 5.
Secretary- Judy May
Judy is past chair of the Scenic Roads Commission, and
has served on the Election Board since moving here from
Madison. She is a retired teacher, and past president of
the United Jewish Federation of Morris-Sussex, now
MetroWest. Judy and her husband, Paul, have lived in
Tewksbury for 17 years. Their daughter lives in Vermont
and their son in Copenhagen. Consequently, they are
often in transit somewhere!
Treasurer- Deborah Huber
Deb is a lifelong resident of central New Jersey. She
grew up in North Plainfield and has lived in Tewksbury
since 1987. After a corporate career in the technology
field, she took early retirement to pursue other
interests, especially progressive social movements such
as NOW, Peace Action, and the Community Diversity
Council of Hunterdon County. She advocates for a
healthier lifestyle, following principles she learned by
studying various aspects of holistic medicine. In 2004
she was elected to represent District 4 on the Hunterdon
County Democratic Committee and continues to serve in
that position. She was an original organizer of the
Tewksbury Democratic Committee and hopes that the
grassroots activity can push our government – at all
levels – to be more responsive to the needs of the
average American.
The Executive Committee is comprised of the 10 elected
